Dan has also been admitted via local counsel rules (also called Pro Hac Vice admission) in Federal Courts in New Hampshire and Montana, as well as state courts in Montana, Wisconsin, Illinois and Virginia. Dan was born in January of 1969 in Washington, D.C. and was raised in Northern Virginia. He is presently the proud husband of Athena Empson Adkins and the prouder still of his two growing boys. He enjoys being amazed and confused by his sons, reading, travel, officiating baseball and football, and arguing successfully (and vociferously) with prosecutors and judges. Dan has previously served as President of the Board of Directors of the West Side Citizens Organization, one of the district councils for his home city of Saint Paul; he served with that organization for more than four years in some capacity
